In the previous blog I was talking about the current book that I am reading "The Sympathizer" . This blog, I will be talking about how that book and what's going on in Afghanistan are similar to one another. My book is talking about the Vietnam War, and how many innocent people are trying to escape and go to a safer country. This is exactly what is happening in Afghanistan, because many people in Afghanistan are trying to escape the war, and are trying to go to a safer country. In addition to this, in my book the main character is a double agent, gathering information from the United States and sending it to Vietnam, which reminds me of the people coming in from Afghanistan who aren't looking for a better life, but to gather info and cause terror in the US (or anywhere else). Another reason why they are similar is because in both cases, the United States was there to help out and to fight in the crisis. This historical conflict that I am reading about relates to our present society because in both, we (USA) are taking in refugees and we have bad people from that certain place who are terrorizing places.
